But Sacred Games, which is an Indian production for Netflix aimed at making a splash in that country’s enormous TV market, feels electrifyingly new. It’s true that the elements are familiar: corrupt cops, brutal mafia bosses, intelligence officers working in the shadows, a tick-tock countdown to some catastrophic event. I’ve never seen anything like Sacred Games, Netflix’s mesmerizing, addictive eight-part crime thriller adapted from Vikram Chandra’s 2006 novel about Mumbai’s crime underworld.
